Jeremy Yoder
FOUNDER
Jeremy, a barbecue enthusiast from Kentucky, graduated with a degree in biochemistry in 2012 and was set to begin medical school, but he changed his mind at the last minute and moved to Los Angeles for graduate studies. To support himself, he worked as a science teacher and bought his first grill, developing a passion for smoking meat. Jeremy upgraded to an Old Country Brazos smoker and started the YouTube channel Mad Scientist BBQ, combining his love for barbecue and teaching. Living in a small apartment without outdoor space, they kept the smoker in their parking spot, later moving it to a friend's backyard. Their friend Rick offered them space to continue filming, and Jeremy cooked for Rick’s family events, leading to more opportunities. As demand grew, Jeremy bought a 500-gallon custom offset smoker to cater larger events. In 2020, with Erica pregnant, they moved back to Kentucky, reached 100k YouTube subscribers, and transitioned to full-time content creation. Today, Jeremy enjoys sharing his barbecue expertise with his viewers and is grateful for the support that allowed them to pursue their passion.
